It's server or voluntary. If it's not server, then they've logged out, maybe.
Disconnecting

it's usually someone rage-quitting and doing it in a rude way (closing browser instead of logout or resign) :( but it's impossible to know. but they get hit with "poor sportsmanship" points and are later restricted in their ability to play

does anyone every get restricted?! i don't know anyone who has, but perhaps some people have. Though i disagree with the statment that it is either server or voluntary, it could be bad internet connection (i have this problem myself) where your internet connection cuts out in blitz games, or even standard!
What does it mean when someone disconnects? Is it always voluntary or is it sometimes a systems error? If you have disconnected, how do you re-connect? It's frustrating to wait around for 5 minutes, and the person may or may not return.
