Δεν χρειαζόμαστε καμία δυσοδία παραιτούμαστε από το κουμπί. ("We don't need no stinking resign button")
Can I make a small request: that Spartans stick to glorious language of ancient Sparta - modern Greek!

I wonder if chess.com would agree to changing the label on the button from RESIGN to NEVER RESIGN? Obviously, this would have to be a user option. That way, Chess-Spartans could press the NEVER RESIGN! button when the going got tough.

Don't the never-resigners open themselves up to a special kind of torture? I remember once musing in a thread about the same topic that the winner has no reason to seek the quickest mate after a point and can instead slowly promote all of his or her remaining pawns to Queens and toy with the king like a kitten with string, batting him around.
Loomis, bless his evil mind, pointed out that such torture might be even more enjoyable by promoting all of the remaining pawns to knights.
Bwahaha.
We don't need no 'resignation'!...***sings to the tune of 'another brick in the wall' by Pink Floyd***
I agree with Anothernewjack. I don't like to waste my time when it's clear I'm out-matched and have lost. To each his own.
I believe the intent behind this topic is to look for ways to encourage the Chess-Spartans - or at worst, gently rib them.
I've created a group Chess-Athenians which serves no purpose at all. It's stated aims are: Democracy, Rationality, Enlightenment & Tolerance.
Oh, and 'Down with the Chess-Spartans!'

I would hope that someone would post a game like that. I would really enjoy seeing it. And yeah, we asked for it.

I could do with a quick recap. Any ancient history teachers out there?
(BabelFish seems to think you wrote in Greek: "You receive!!" Is this even close?)

BEHOLD! CRAFTY VS NAKAMURA. The entire game was played in 2 minutes and 54 seconds. 6 knights in one game is a record.
Rael, ive seen a game like this... It was on another Live chess client and the guy simply refused to resign so his opponent promoted a queen 3 knights plus he still had one of his original knights and his starting queen lol. After all the pawns were promoted he had to think about his moves to avoid stalemate XD.
I have had a game where I promoted a pawn to a queen to give me my secound queen but my opponent didn't resign so i started pushing a 3rd pawn only to be insulted, cursed at, and called a noob. Only then did my opponent resign lol.

Oh... my... God... that finishing position is a thing of beauty. Nakamura is out of this world.
Wow! 155 moves in 174 seconds!! Talk about blitz. I feel sorry for that poor computer. It had no idea what to do. Thanks for posting it. I enjoyed that.
It's nice to know people like The_Wizard misunderstand people they disagree with and take the next step of calling them "idiots". People like him are why there is so much division out there. Disagree with views, not people who support them. Such awfully crude statements are not helpful to anyone.
There should be a resign button because once you see that losing is absolutely inevitable most of us want to just go play another game where we can win.

"We don't need no stinking resign button!". The double-negative: "... don't need no ..." is logically equivalent to a positive, and therefore means: "We do need a stinking resign button!"
Hence the title of this topic agrees with you, salem84.
I have been asked by the admin of The Chess Spartans to post an open call for members (his English skills are improving). If you are the type of player who likes to fight it out to the bitter end (win or lose) then come join The Chess Spartans. We've only got a few members so far, but judging by the many heated debates we get over the resign/never debate, there's a whole lot of us out there.
No active forums yet, but we're looking forward to some great "To-the-Death" tournaments and vote chess games. I tried posting the group avatar here cuz it's just so funny, but couldn't get it to work. Even if you don't join the group, you should go to it and look at the photo album to see the picture clearly. It's great!!
