Why I'm Staying on Chess.com

Sort:

Members of the chess.com community, admin, friends, family, liberals, nihilists; the time has come, I have made my decision: I am staying on chess.com.

My reasons for this decision are as follows:

 1. The people

 2. The ability to take part in some great chess

 3. Threats on my opponents' King

 4. Overall attractiveness of the site and its many features

 5. Being able to achieve a rating a margin higher than I have ever reached in OTB play

 6. Global warming

As a note to my opponents and friends: I will continue to play the best chess I can, and will try to leave my best analysis and advice around the site.

With benevolence towards all that take part in this awesome site,

TonightOnly

Three cheers for a great post. Chess.com is becoming what it should be, one of the best websites for chess on the internet. Intelligent discussion, and good players playing well thought out games of chess.  I love it here, I'm getting what I haven't gotten before.

Very cool. Yes, I agree this site is on the right track.

Ahhh.. man. I had this nice post written all about how I was leaving and you have to go and post this.

Fine, I'm staying too.

Thank you tonightonly7 for remembering to include global warming, think I'll stay too!

Eloquent as always, your majesty.

I'm staying on chess.com and here's why: I like making Garry mad. I like people who vacation me. (That's my copyrighted term now, and yes, everyone may use it.) I love global warming: it makes Al Gore mad and doesn't exist. I love that people are going to bash me for not believing in global warming. I don't believe in the Easter bunny either. Any takers? Chess.com has great memebers like Batgirl who love to share knowledge. Chess.com has freaky members like...well, never mind. Chess.com has funny banner ads that people think are sexist. Shame, Erik, shame. I love that SOMEONE added a collection of FREE CHESS.COM WALLPAPER to the downloads section. What a GREAT guy! He's really swell.

My number 1 reason for staying on Chess.com is...

Reservesmonkey.

Anybody explain this about global warming?  If we all have our central heating turned up 3 degrees celsius, in 100 years the amount of fossil fuels used to do this will produce enough gases to raise the ambient temperature by ... 3 degrees celsius.  According to scientific research that is.  So by my logic, in 100 years time we will all be comfortably warm and have lower heating bills (since we no longer need the heating on that extra 3 degrees).  Another side effect of global warming is apparently the near extinction of the Great White Shark (the man eating shark that has no useful purpose).  So we can swim safely in the warm seas.  Of course, there are those who want to save this useless fish.  They are also trying to re-introduce wild bears into Scotland (because bears lived there thousands of years ago).  They would also probably like, given the chance, to re-introduce large carniverous dinosaurs.  Because they used to roam the Earth millions of years ago.  At the moment, I am sitting in a very cold office in England by the way.  Global warming?  Yes please!  Do-gooder conservationists?  Naaah.

Umm, I'm cool about the shark thing, but what about the changes in weather patterns due to warmer waters? Hurricanes? No?

I'm staying on Chess.Com because I love it. I love the games, the great variety of players. I love the people I play against. I have never had vacation abuse, wouldn't even know what it was if it hit me in the face. I absolutly love the forums, yes even the silly one.  I gain so much knowledge from the clever people on this site who are great at imparting their knowledge for free. I love lots and lots of you guys,  who have such a great sense of humour. You really make me laugh with some of your comments. I meet people I would never in a million years get a chance to play chess with. Yep, I just love it. So thanks Erik, and the guys that help you.  Plus Stacey Bearden thinks I'm cool along with King william, how much better can it get.

Global Warming. It makes me laugh just to type it. Seriously though...no, I can't think of anything serious about it.

More good things about global warming:

  1. Erik won't have to warm his computer servers .
  2. I dislike penguins. They're freaky.
  3. Polar bears need to understand the importance of weight control.
  4. Al Gore will always have work.
  5. I love heat: I have heat in my house and vehicles.
  6. I love global: it keeps us all unified.
  7. I heard once that life in Siberia is miserable. Not so much now.
  8. I can throw away my snow shovels and make room for scuba gear.

9. The biggest hole in the ozone layer is over Antartica and New Zealand, alllll the way over there. No-one lives over those ways, nuh uh.

lol but seriously spend 15 minutes in the sun over here and your burnt, and that's when its only 20*C. NOT COOL MAN >_<

I know the Easter bunny is real because him and I hung out in Vegas the last time I was there.  That guy is crazy but you know the saying "what happens in Vegas Stays in Vegas.  Last I heard he was locked up in some Mexican Jail under suspicion of drug trafficking.

I'm staying for all of the reasons that RM is leaving. I like to wait until the last minute to move, take vacations and converse with intelligent people. Although I like monkeys, they are impatient and terrible speakers. Thanks chess.com!

queenie I agree 100%

I also set a goal I want to achieved here on Chess.com. That goal is to have a rating that is in the top 50 players on this site. I may have a long way to go and a lot of learning to do, but that's why I'm here. TO PLAY, LEARN, SHARE
