Opening = *urg*, especially in correspondance. 5.Qd3 looks more or less ok (though I suspect Black had improvements over the previous moves).
10.Qe3 (blocks the Bc1) -> 10.Qg3 with some vague initiative on the kingside that makes up for maybe half the missing pawn.
16.Bd5 ?? loses a piece (and the game), but Black returns the favor with 18..Qb6 ??, where White could and should play 19.Qxe7 (if 19...c4+ 20.Kh1, so what ?)
I still prefer Black at move 29 after his multiple mistakes - three pawns, and more importantly a safer king, for the exchange is more than enough.
On a side note, Black had a forced draw on move 31 by 31...Qh1+ 32.Ke2 Qe4+ 33.Kf1 because if instead 33.Kd2 ?? Nf3+ wins the queen. But it is probably right to continue to play for the win.
After 35...Qb1 White is absolutely lost, so walking into a mate in two is not so terrible after all, compared to a long and painful agony.

Thanks for your comments on the game. According to the computer analysis, I had a mate in 4 before I played 41.Qe7, which not only did I completely miss, but threw the entire game away as well
