Instead of a3 sacrificing the Rook you can play Qe4 which sets up the next stage of the attack against the e-pawn. Something like this:
Exciting Fried Liver Attack
Sort:
The point of the Fried Liver Attack is to attack a centralized king and go for mate as quickly as possible. 9. a3 is an aggressive move that opens the e-file for the rook and quickens development. What's the point of having more material if you are going to be checkmated? (plus it's fun!)
And, just because I'm a stickler for these kinds of things, with perfect play by black, black will always when .
Hey all. I played the Fried Liver Attack as white and was attacking the entire game. It was the most analysis I had ever done during a game to find the correct move and not completely blow it... Eventually, I got lucky and my opponent made a slight mistake, pinning his king in the center with no help.
Sorry I don't have any analysis up: I'll try to do it later (if you have any, go ahead and post it).
Hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
