Bishops

Hi! i've created this forum about bishopd. In a game, how do you think bishops can be used most effectively and why? please post, and thanks for all the help.

Diagrams would be helpful if  possible, but if you cant get one thats fine!

Pinning down other pieces, esp. With a pawn!

Bishops tend to be better in open positions, and they are usually better in endgames, where pawns are on both sides of the board.

Knights are better in closed positions, and they are equal, if not better than bishops when pawns are on the same side of the board, e.g. when each side has 1 pawn on each side, bishops are best, but when each has two pawns on same side, knights aren't bad.
