I know on some forums you are allowed to 'bump' a thread by adding a post with the word 'bump' in it. This is used to keep a thread alive. Is that allowed here?

... Okay but seriously, it's not against the rules so by some extension it's allowed (albeit pointless... if no one is interested in the thread, they won't be tommorow).

Bumping is number 10 on this (unordered) list of forum annoyances; i.e. more than an irritation - but less than than an aggravation.

The preferred method here is to dig out the old thread and add a nonsensical comment to it.  It's okay, because most of the old threads were already full of them.

But don't just "bump" the thread - that says loud and clear that you don't even have something irrelevant to add.
