What's a good chess book? I'm working on improving my game and I'm interested in buying some books. Any suggestions?
Rather than take a stab at answering your wide-ranging question, I will suggest that you specify what are areas you wish to improve.
Also, are there any authors you enjoy and find effective and others you cannot stand?
jermey silman has about 6 or so books that people like. I personally like
Yasser Seirawam. But I'am realitively new to chess. LOL
I use for my courses this books and my students enjoy the lessons.
M. Marin: Learn from the Legends, Chess Champions at their Best.
M. Shereshevsky: Endgame Strategy
R. Reti: Modern Chess Ideas
Kaufeld, J.: Grandmaster Chess Strategy
Simple Chess by Stean. It's been recommended by IMs and GMs before.
I would recommend My System for anyone who has not read it. I feel it is a must for any new serious chess player looking to improve.
