Have You Ever Thrown a Chess Game?

Yes!

I threw it about 30 feet!

I have only thrown games in online chess in a time there I didn't wanted to play online and I thought it was more fair to the other players to resign than to let the games run out.

but I don't know what the correct procedure is if I need a 2 weeks break and the games keeps on coming because I signed up for them in a time there I was highly motivated.

Throw a game as in deliberately playing under or against my ability... no, never. Throw a game as in resigning prematurely to end a game I no longer wish to play... frequently. Some games are just so tedious that I would rather resign and be done with it, even if I feel that I could win if I endured the displeasure.

A chess player with no patience?

I hope so! Patience is not a virtue. It is merely an excuse for the slow and slothful.Wink

I threw a game I was playing against my friend, he have been playing for  years and I've been playing for like 8 months and he felt really bad having a lost position against me, so I drew the game, he was relieved, a lot, plus it's just a game, I enjoyed the result, knew that i can win, the scoresheet cannot change that for me

When teaching, I will often allow opportunities for my students to win in ways that are typical for their level so they learn to recognize mistakes.

I think I'll have to disagree with you on that one:)

I'm not holding my breath.

Never ever ever threw a game I was playing seriously. Besides, I'm not smart enough to do it convincingly; I'd be like Mike Tyson falling down in a "KO" when hit by a five year old--not very persuasive.

On the other hand, I've frequently "lost" while teaching my son, and now my grandson, how to play. I'll announce that I'm making a weak move and help my student to look for the possibilities in the new position. That kind of purposeful losing, though, is reasonable.

No violates the spirit of the game won't do it for anyone.

I salute everyone who wouldn't do it in a rated game.

Letting someone win in a casual unrated game doesn't matter. However I don't see the point. Instead if they make a bad move, help them understand why the move was bad and advice them on what to play instead of letting them win by bad play.

Just a game, winning and losing kills the fun in it

I offered a draw to a player in a rated game online. I've played him 15 games without a loss. I had a supreme advantage with K + Q vs K +2 connected pawns. I offered him a draw because he played well and I felt like I saved a chess soul.

Exactly, far more important things then winning

Yeah, this game with my friend a while ago:

(I was white)

This was the Blackburne Gambit.

I don't know if it counts as throwing, but when I know I have a completely losing position (say 1-3 moves to checkmate) and it was a pretty good game, I might type in the chat: You got me, Go on and finish it.

I realize your opponent's resignation is your win, but to me there's just something sweeter about the satisfaction of a checkmate over a resignation.

I once let a lady win 5 games and I decided not to let her win the 6th. but by luck or skill she end up winning anyway.  It's just pointless to let people win.
