Could be both; Around the holidays there's a virus that will lock you out, until you send them money. The malware one IS just an add, so if you do click on "fix now", then you'll be told what's wrong, and how much they want to fix it. Have you downloaded a lot of FREE stuff? The MyCleanPC.com is still around, but they changed the're name. Find a good computer tech, clean and dump the entire thing. After, install a good virus program and hope for the best. If you really have important stuff you need?, you might wanna think about an external firewall. Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but MERRY CHRISTMAS! My tech guy charges $70. Ya know, new year, new bills, new headaches, new problems. Good luck!

ADDENDUM; Do NOT go to MyCleanPC.com but the GEEK SQUAD is good but they are a little pricy $$.
The message only comes up when I get on here to play chess. Not other web sites. It's just not right. Anyway thanks.
Chess.com has been flooded with malicious ads lately. What happened?
Have a pop up come up when I log on to chess.com.
It says Important message
Your pc performance is poor.
Fix now.
They want you to click the box that says fix now. , Not going to do that. I'll get some freaking viris. I have 2 computers. One at my office that I play chess and do other things. And one at home that only goes to about 3 sites that are safe. But this message only comes up on both computers when I get on chess.com.
So is something that others on here are seeing? And WHY? Kind of pisses me off.
