Marshall Chess Club

Is there anybody here from the Northeastern United States that has been to the Marshall Chess Club with any regularity?  If so, I have a couple of questions:

1) Is there parking anywhere nearby other than expensive $50/day parking garages?

2) Does NYC have a law that passenger vehicles can't come into the city at certain times of day (that's the rumor I heard)?  Does this lead to problems for those that come from out of town and stay in New Jersey to save hotel money?  This applies to both during the week and the weekend as some tournaments (i.e. Mid-July) do go beyond just a weekend.

3) Is there anywhere to eat nearby, or do you have to drive (hence losing your parking space) between rounds during the day?

NM Jim West (Chess.com handle "JimWest") is from New Jersey and plays in tournaments at the Marshall all the time. Why not send him a message with your questions?

Because others might want to read the answers to those questions.  Smile

I live in NYC now.  I'm a member there and I am actually teaching a camp this week there.

1)  You can find street parking.  Easier on the weekends, but give yourself 20 or so extra minutes to find something.

2) No law.

3) Plenty of great places that wont break the bank and are really nice.

There is a chinese food place, a dunkin donuts, and I think there's a chipotle as well.

Airbnb tends to be pretty good.  Only stay with hosts who have lots of (positive) reviews.
