Question about rules

I was wondering - are you allowed to read a chess book whilst playing a correspondence game with, say, 3 days per move, that might influence your play?  In other words, can you read a chess book to help your play (maybe an opening book on the opening you're playing)

Thanks,

I should just say that asking for advice is OK in vote chess, as long as it's someone also playing on your team/ in your group. That's what the team discussion box is there for.

Skakmati

Good chart artfizz. Makes it easy for all to understand.

Thanks for that correction, atomichicken. I've now incorporated that in the original table in post #6.

(As you may have noticed, QUOTE does not preserve the formatting of a quoted table.)

Baseballfan

Wow Artfizz, well done chart.

Thanks. Would there be any mileage in putting it in some official place where it could more easily be found by searching - and more directly referenced than the middle of a topic? Such as, in this article ... Site Playing Rules: A Guide for the Perplexed, for instance.

OpeningGambit

I don't know...but a superb chart!

If you are in a game can you ask a friend what they wouldn't do?

OpeningGambit

No.  It's not allowed.  If you have any more queries click help in the top left of your screen.  All the rules are ther.  You can search them.
