I also look very intently on the opposite side of the board, which once someone actully forgot my blunder and i smiled and continued a wonderful game and...lost :(
I know somebody that would do something similar to that. He would always stare at the opposite side of the board that he was attacking, and people would put their power pieces there to protect his "attack."

This can be effective if they're low on time but haven't looked at the clock yet. As their thinking lean back in your chair and go "Oh no!" (or be a bit more subtle) and they'll think there's an amazing tactic to win a piece or something and they'll run out of time looking for it.
One guy used to do this to me a lot, and even today when he does it (but he's being serious) the first think I do is immediately look at my clock

I bet $1000 that you'll take that piece and loose your queen in 5 moves, no exception. But, if you leave that piece alone, then you won't loose that queen and still be able to continue on. The choice is yours.
Think out loud: "if you take *insert piece to be taken here*, then it's forced mate in seven. If (s)he doesn't take, then I move *insert piece to be taken here*, and the game is even.
