User friendly chess engine

I'M in the market for a chess engine which I will use to double check my analysis. I would like something that is user friendly since I want to spend my time studying and not figuring out how the damn thing works. I have Arena and frankly I think it sucks because it is so user unfriendly. There are so many different engines available but the emphasis seems to be on engine strength and not a user friendly interface. As I said I want it to double check my own analysis and for annotating my own games.in an electronic format ala pgn so I can send it to others.I'm new to this stuff so any help is appreciated.

You want a GUI not an engine. I use Arena myself so I don't know what to recomend other than taking the time to learn how it works.

Fritz is pretty popular and there's a series of videos out to help you get over the learning curve hump.  You can have it analyze a game for you and have it use natural language (more or less) to indicate where you went wrong. You can export the game to a .pgn file or print it up with diagrams and the whole shebang.  The gui is consistent across Chessbase products and will give you a leg up should you wish to get into some of the more 'pro' things they offer in their catalogue

I use fritz almost exclusively, but SCID is out there and works well, Chesspad is free, Winboard, Shredder, etcetera. Just do a little google research and pay attn to the screen shots.

All of the above ^^, but:

NOTHING is really user friendly, all of them takes some time and effort to learn properly.

Well, engine's are just that. They output moves in annotation in plaintext, nothing more. As far as gui's go, I like Fritz. But be prepared... Fritz has a tendency to well... insult you... (can be turned off though, but sometimes he really gets on my nerves).

Things I don't like about fritz, well only one thing comes to mind. When practicing king - king pawn endgame, he knows if it's won, lost or draw. And if it's a draw in the best possible play, he will give up his pawn. So you can't practice that endgame with fritz.

Thanks for all the help guys. Since I have the opportunity to get any engine at a very good discount I went with Houdini Pro with the Fritz 13 gui.

Hehe, be prepared for some abusive comments from fritz! (just remember, you can turn that part off)
