Can we please fix "Play Against The Computer"???

I'm sure you guys see all the post about this, with the computer getting stuck when it says "computer thinking....". Is this even being worked on? I posted this problem over a month ago and it still does it. Like someone said on my other post that this is frustrating and it is. Can we please fix this soon?

Thank you.

RookedOnChess

That's happened to me a lot too. When the computer starts thinking, it never stops *sigh* :(

DontPanic42

Yeah, I've even tried letting it think for an hour and when I come back to my computer its still thinking. I really like how they changed the level of game play from silly to hard cause before it seemed like it didnt matter what it was set at, it would always would kick my butt. So I love playing this new one but this "computer thinking..." is getting very very frustrating. Please guys keep the same game play but please fix this little problem that everyone is having!! Come on we love your site!!!

Thank you.

jason17

I completely agree, and am having the same problem.

erik

Maybe it's just trying to play like a lot of people on here do. Just sit there forever, and let the clock run down, hoping you'll give up, and resign.

erik

if you have this issue again, can you please post the PGN of the game where it froze? we are trying to recreate and are unable to at this point...

DontPanic42

Took me playing the computer 3 times to get it to get stuck. (1st one computer won, 2nd one I won) 3rd one gets stuck. PGN is posted below. Hope this helps. I'll be playing more tonight when I get off work and if it happens again I'll post that PGN also.

Thank you.

Just take it as a compliment.

Got it to do it again. Just took 2 times playing the computer this time. (1st one I won, 2nd one it got stuck) The PGN is below, hope this helps out.

If anyone else is reading this, please post your PGN so we can help the staff fix it.

we've confirmed the bug :) what happens is that the computer starts "thinking" when it knows it has already won! (note in this game, Bg3+ is checkmate!!)

Really? Is there away to use the PGN to recreate a game, because I can't see how the computer knows its beaten me within eight moves. And unless I was extremely tired, I don't think I was one move away from checkmate.

erik
Just replay the moves on any board. (in the navigation bar you can find the analysis and editor tool)
david1995

Yeah, I know, i made a huge to do about it in one of my threads.

I am also expirencing that it is giving me the wrong PGN. Kohai said that she was investigating

I don't know if I should dig this topic up now, but today, during the site down time, the computer got stuck again:

I'm just a novice, but I don't think that the computer here got stuck because it "knows it has already won", as erik said, in fact he was losing. It was level 1200 btw and I played White. Hope this helps

I've been following this thread ever since I saw the original "Play Against The Computer Thread". I posted a long message in that thread so I won't repeat it now.

Here is my most recent encounter with this issue.

If the computer is already claiming victory at this stage then it truly is amazing. I have no doubt that it would have won this game since I don't play the Colle-Gruenfeld very well, but just how did it know that? I wish it would at least have the courtesy to display the winning moves so I could try to learn from my mistakes.Smile

Seriously though, there does seem to have been some improvement and I do like it better than the previous version. Good luck with this issue.
