Are you talking about posting new topics?
Group forums

I'm referring to creating categories that we can then post new topics under. Most forums allow for this, and this website even uses it on the main forum page.
For example - this thread is posted under the Help & Support category.
I was wondering if there was some way to add categories to group forums (so that we can organize the forums for our group a bit).

I haven't seen a mechanism for doing this. However, you could tag your group forum topics manually - as you create them - using a tag either at the start of the Subject or at the end. e.g.
LEARNING: What was Tal's style?
Tal, Capablanca & Morphy walk into a bar (HUMOR)
etc.

I've previously alluded to it privately with a more specific purpose in mind, but I think the ability to tag discussion topics across the board (many tags to many topics) would help the search and cross-reference capabilities immensely.

KEYWORDS: tags tagging searchable keywords attributes
I couldn't agree more. And not just for whole forum topics, but also ...
- individual posts
- games
- profiles (especially one's own profile)
- members
- articles
- ...
A consequence of such a powerful facility being available would be that many of the existing organising schemes would become redundant, as they would just be special cases of a generic, integrated scheme. e.g. forum categories, groups, friends, countries.
Is there any way to create categories inside a group's forums?
