Does anyone know exactly how tie breaks are applied in chess.com tournaments? If players are tied with the same point total AND tie breaks in the round, what is used as the next tie break?
In case this helps, here's a scenario:
In the 2nd round 2 players will advance, but 3 are tied:
A 1 0 1 0 1 1 = 4 pts 8 tbs
B 0 1 .5 .5 1 1 = 4 pts 8 tbs
C 1 0 .5 .5 1 1 = 4 pts 8 tbs
In the overall standings they stand like this (order reversed):
C 11-1-2 12.0 pts 32 tbs
B 9-2-3 10.5 pts 26 tbs
A 10-4-0 10.0 pts 20 tbs
So the order of tie breaks will determine who advances... thus I'm curious to know what the order is (to see if I should accept a draw or play for a win).
Puchiko
When the tie breaks are equal, both players advance (even if the standard number of advances is one, two people will advance from the group).
Thank you, Puchiko - that helps me greatly!
