would this help ?

UGH!
Now it comes up with this:
I need the liters in round figures, not the mm. Example, I need depth for 500 l, 1000 l, 1500l........ 23500l, 24000l
Depth | Litres |
100 __ | 375.23 |
200 __ | 1046.67 |
300 __ | 1895.51 |
400 __ | 2875.48 |
500 __ | 3957.61 |
600 __ | 5120.66 |
700 __ | 6347.65 |
800 __ | 7624.14 |
900 __ | 8937.37 |
1000 __ | 10275.6 |
1100 __ | 11627.75 |
1200 __ | 12983.09 |
1300 __ | 14330.97 |
1400 __ | 15660.56 |
1500 __ | 16960.55 |
1600 __ | 18218.85 |
1700 __ | 19422.11 |
1800 __ | 20555.02 |
1900 __ | 21599.15 |
2000 __ | 22530.79 |
2100 __ | 23315.85 |
2200 __ | 23893.66 |
the only way I could think of, it cheating though ,is by pouring in 500 l in a time marking it off till half way (is the same for the top half).
geez, thanx.
I've been looking in excel if there's no function that could calculate the mm if I input the litres, but all those things seem to be linear, and this clearly is not.
The trial and error idea might be a bit tedious to do - but you'll be pretty certain that your dipstick is properly graduated by that method. Maths might need an act of faith in the end.
I'm not doing the work, as I've forgotten it all, but I'm almost positive this is like a 2nd semester Calculus Integral problem. Start asking someone sharp w/Calculus.
Oh, and hopefully obviously, halfway on the stick is 12000, w/the gradations closer together on either side of that point, and further aprt towards the ends.
by using the link I gave you, you can be able calculate the depth when you want the volume to be for example for every 500 l. Type in the depth where you want the volume so ....
so far I got.....
121mm - 498 l
194mm - 1000.8 l
256mm - 1503.7 l
312mm - 2006.9 l
363 2499.7 l
412 3000.4 l
459 3503.1 l
504 4002.7 l
547 4495.3 l
590 5001.2
632 5507.1
672 5998.5
712 6498.5
752 7006.1
790 7494.6
829 8001.7
867 8500.7
905 9003.8
942 9497.0
980 10,006.5
1017 10,504.8
1054 11,004.7
1091 11,505.8
1128 11.993.8
half way 1130 12,034.5
1165 12,509
The tank has 24000lt, divide that for 500lt You get 48 parts. Take the 2260mm total height and divide for 48 and you get 47.08mm for each 500lts.
I'm right?
Hi, please help :)
I have 2 x 24000 litre tanks, and I need to measure the quantity of diesel inside.
The tanks are cylyndrical, and lying horizontally.
The distance from the bottom of the tank to the hatch at the top is 2260mm [edit: that would be the inside diameter, just to be clear]. Now, I need to make a dipstick that has 500 litre increments to measure the liquid inside.
Please tell me exactly where I must put the gradations on my dipstick.
