Thanks for all your interest guys!!! But unfortunately, this competition is strictly for groups that represent a specific opening. Whichever opening you prefer, there's probably a group already dedicated to it, and I'm sure they would love for you to join them!! Here are the one's I've found so far (membership #s as of 6/21):
Group - # of members
Please could I register the 'Wandering King Appreciation Society' - http://www.chess.com/groups/home/the-wandering-king-appreciation-society
Please could I be the administrator in charge.
The Wandering King is a WHITE opening.
It begins with the moves:
1. f3 e5/d5
2. Kf2
Thanks.

So only groups that specialise in specific openings can enter this tournament William?
Yeah, I think we're going to keep this one for all the little guys. There are plenty of tournaments and leagues for all the big powerhouse teams to compete in. Meanwhile there are obviously over 100 groups specifically dedicated to learning and studying one particular opening. Many of these groups love to play Vote Chess from their pre-determined position, but it's the same dozen people in every game. Some of these groups have done extensive research on their opening of choice, and it's a shame that all that work is only seen by a small handfull of people. Just as the FSVL has introduced many groups to the wonderful world of Speed Vote Games, hopefully this league will help give some much needed exposure to some very deserving groups.
btw, can we play for some other team? because kid_of_chess wants to play for my team and vice versa
A whole lot of these groups have a whole lot of overlapping memberships. By the time this is thru, I hope that to be even more true. In any one game you can only play for one side of course, but there's no limit as to how many teams you can play for thruout the tournament. In fact, the teams that make it the farthest usually see a swell in membership as a result (at least that's been the case in the FSVL).
There aren't many vote chess tournaments around at all William.. Masters II, Swiss (which is 1 day moves so not interested), Speed, which is once a month..
but as far as standard vote chess tournaments go.. 2 day moves.. there is only 1 that I know of.. the Masters .. is there any others I don't know about?
A few of the newer vote chess leagues:
The World Cup Headquarters organizes a World Cup tournament between all the various national teams on chess.com. Teams play each other as black and white in small divisions with 4 simultaneous games. The Time control is 2 days per move. The first round is under way, but because of the large number of teams involved, this tournament may take several years to complete. This was founded by kokino, but Ko7 has been running it. This is the largest vote chess tournament on chess.com. Team Slovakia, Team Canada, Indian Marauders, Team Italia, Team Philippines, Team Romania, Team Germany, Team England et al are all playing.
Ko7 recently set up the Tergirmon Vote Cup. Teams such as SuperTroopers, Indian Marauders, Black Or White and THE POWER OF CHESS are competing against each other in tournaments at 1, 2 or 3 days per move.
The High Speed Vote Championships organized by Team India for teams with over 100 members.
The S & S Vote Chess League organized by wilt18. Ten teams compete at a time control of 3 days per move.
The Top 10 TM + Vote Chess League HQ runs tournaments amongst THE POWER OF CHESS, Team Romania, The Dream Team, D'Chessbomb at al.
And here's some of the older ones:

Definitely not too late. You're only team #9 out of 32, so there's still plenty of room for you. And 1.e4 c5 2.Nc3 Nc6 3.f4 is an opening position in Chess.com's database (they've got more than I can count), so that's where you guys will be starting from.

Why is the Latvian Gambit listed as a "White position"??? BLACK initiates this gambit, not White!
Sure, there ARE some gambit lines for White (1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 f5!? 3. Nxe5 Qf6 4. Nc4 fxe4 5. b3!?, for instance!) -- but 2. ...f5!? is BLACK playing a gambit!
I'm not sure why it was listed up with the white openings. Clearly, the last move in the sequence I posted was black's move. I was probably just really tired from staying up all night on this site. Thanks for the catch.
