Not many players have the guts to play the dreaded Halloween Gambit. This tournament is not for those faint of heart. You have my guarantee that no boring game has ever begun with the Halloween Gambit. It has 100 players so I made it far earlier than the start date. The games begin on October 31 at midknight. (I'm sorry I just had to get that pun into there.) If lots of people join quickly it may start slightly earlier, just as long as Halloween arrives during the tournament, otherwise it isn't quite as awesome. Go here to see the custom trophies or here to see the opening. If you are a fan of the Halloween Gambit or would just like to get to know it, this is the tournament for you!

What? I didn't start the tournament! It was supposed to start on Halloween! I didn't think that 100 would join so quickly!

If anybody here dresses up for Halloween, just for fun say what you're going to be.

I'm going to be an IRS(internal revenue service) agent. Imagine three slow ominous knocks on your door. A dark voice says, slowly and painfully, "You are being audited."

4...Nxe4?

You could, but if you invest the time to study the opening, then you can avoid giving back the material, at least against similarly rated players. Especially when you can refer to your texts while playing the games.

Therefore, if somebody plays that, I think they are admitting being AFRAID of HALLOWEEN!!!

i think you should still be able to view the forum.

you could send some invites for the tournament to get the numbers up. maybe start by viewing the tournaments page; tournaments in progress and start with the 81 people currently involved in a halloween tournament that started a couple of months ago. plus a lot more people will register once the start date is closer.

Me too, after taking the knight there are options for giving the piece back if you don't like the look of those white pawns. That may be a good idea because there is often only 1 or 2 moves that will save you against this gambit, and some of the natural 'feeling' moves will spell disaster!
