Subtle moves that win in the end. Outstanding!
impressive game, love the way it turns in few moves (kingside massage) from a nothing position into something special etc.
not important to me, but Rb8 defence of b7 seems to loose the pawn to Nf4 after the exchange Bxf4. b6 seems forced, very important for the upcomming Re6 penetration etc
at 2.40. dose know one play Nc3 anymore, then Bf4 ready to castle long?
very well
i so loved the video thanks for the help
skwirlguts- i suspect you are suggesting ne5. that does seem like the most testing move from white. then i think black would trade off into knight vs bishop: bxe5 rxe5 (you could also take with pawn if you like) bxd3 qxd3 (white gains a tempo from the queen recapture, BUT you wasted a tempo on ne5, and now black will gain a tempo with Nc6, hitting the rook we brought to e5) Nc6 Re1 Rfe8. looks like black is o.k. to me.
pjm- that's amazing! the very day this video was published, you got to use that move *twice* in your own games! wow, that's a happy story. congrats on winning the games, you must have played well in the endgames.
I expected more! :/
great video... I just used your ideas to improve on black in 2 games I played tonight and won both with the petroff against 200 point higher rated player...Played the same line... with Qd7... obviously he never took the bishop... we were playing blitz... won both end games... thanks Dave
im wondering about knight to d5 attacking queen to d7. seems to undermind your whole keeping the tension plan. good game as they say...

IM Pruess shows another masterful recent GM game in the Petroff Defense. There are good lessons here about using a development advantage and creating and taking advantage of weaknesses with the help of the initiative. This game takes place in a very usual mainline, and the patterns seen are quite typical for the Petroff.
