August Activity
In August a total of 17 rated bulldog chess games were completed. 18 % of those games ended by timeouts. After the month of August a total of 163 rated bulldog chess games have been completed.
Candidate Tournament:
The candidate tournament has been completed! It was a 4 player knockout tournament with @thegreatauk, @rychessmaster1, @Waredude and @HorusTheThird.
The first Semi Final was between @thegreatauk and @HorusTheThird (link). @thegreatauk managed to get an early checkmate with Qd1xd7#
The second semi-final was between @rychessmaster1 and @Waredude (link), @rychessmaster1 won after winning @Waredude's queen.
The Final was between @thegreatauk and @rychessmaster1 (link). After a while the following position was reached.
@thegreatauk was white, @rychessmaster1 was black. Here auk played Ri6. It was a typo and he meant to play Ri5. Ry took the rook Nxi6 and eventually won the game. Therefore @rychessmaster1 becomes the 6th player to challenge @Martin0 for the Bulldog Champion title. This win also ended @thegreatauk's win streak of 8 wins in a row.
Challenge Game
The challenge game between @Martin0 and @rychessmaster1 has started! (link). So far @Martin0 has managed to defend his title 5 times. The previous challengers were @vickalan, @JohnHS, @evert823, @Junebug444 and @captaintugwash. Martin0 also has a 100 % Win rate with 14 wins, 0 losses and 0 draws. Meanwhile rychessmaster1 has a 73 % win rate with 15 wins, 5 losses and 2 draws. Will rychessmaster1 be the first player to beat Martin0 and take the bulldog crown? Only time will tell, but it should be an exciting game.
Second-class Championship
During a discussion in the forums the question came up "Who is the second best bulldog chess player?". To answer this question @JohnHS suggested to start a tournament. And so it started (link). The players are @thegreatauk, @rychessmaster1, @captaintugwash and @JohnHS. It is a double Round Robin tournament where each player will play against each other with both colors. To be more specific the games are:

Superdog Tournament:
In the Superdog tournament the final between @Martin0 and @captaintugwash has started and is still in progress (link)
Big Dog Tournament:
In the Big Dog Tournament 2 semi quarter games and 1 quarter final game has been completed.
@Waredude managed to beat @vickalan in a semi-quarter final game where they got an endgame where Waredude had a witch against a knight. The endgame should favor vickalan, but after some inaccurate moves, Waredude managed to win (link).
@Bad_Dobby_Fischer won on time against @unc07 in a semi-quarter final game (link).
In a quarter final game @JohnHS beat @SuperSam1. @JohnHS won a piece in the opening and eventually won in an endgame where he had sacrificed his piece for a couple of pawns. (link)

No new players were added to the leaderboard this month. However some people managed to make some rating jumps. @rychessmaster1 managed to reclaim his 1500+ rating by winning 3 games which includes a win against #2 thegreatauk. @thegreatauk won 2 games, so he was still able to barely keep his #2 spot in the rankings. Some other members that managed to climb the rating list were @HolographWars, @Bad_Dobby_Fischer, @SuperSam1 and @hitthepin.
