Greetings dear chess friends!

Please note that  in order to comply with The Rules, the deadline to either make 3 Initial Game Offers (IGOs) to your opponent or to accept one of his is the Wednesday that follows the posting of the pairings, at 23:59 UTC. Thus, the players have no more than 48 hours to take action after the pairings are posted. We think that this should be enough time.

Eventually, the players will find themselves forfeiting the game if late to start the discussion. Right now we're giving everyone the chance to get used to this new "subtlety".

I'm not going to explain the WHYs and WHAT FORs of such a measure. All I can tell you is that we need to fasten up the discussions so that the players can agree quicker and have better chances to play the game. Another point is that many among us need to know in advance when they are going play. Waiting for days before a discussion begins just does not make sense and generates lots of frustation.

Those interested to find out more about those issues can explore "Our Mission" and The Rules.

Best Regards,

SC
