the to do list
Hey, so to get this thing started here is a list of things to be done. Doing them might lead to more things that must be done, but eventually we will get to the point where the next thing to do is to vote on moves in games. I'm psyched for that.
So, look at this, shoot down items or agree or disagree and chime in or chip in or what ever:
- pin down manner of play, 1) a fixed league with seasons and schedule or 2) an open enrollment ladder system. or both. optional matches could be added too. the NJ team plays in a league that is based on matches. if one wants to hunt down cheaters this would be a way but matches are good anyway
- I have to set up my elo calculation thing. I'm giving my self 2 weeks to do it. (I'm busy) I want to add what I think are more useful stats which I mentioned elsewhere
- pin down what groups are in. I will re-reach out to my groups.
- find consensus on this "tagging" idea and find a way to do it. I would be willing to make a first pass over all games that I'm not a part of and pass it on to others. I think since this in the long run is really about analysis moreso than cheat detection (and thus more useful) we could publish this in the forum or somewhere to learn from. Reference material might be useful like "this line is described in Joe Gallagher's books on this opening" or "this ending is like this one in BCEs" or "this move is using such a strategy described in Euwe's Middle Game Book 1 chapter 1" or something. Thus we will have taken a huge step in helping each other get better at chess. By crowd-sourcing the tagging, we're crowd sourcing research.
- everything else I'm leaving out.
