Hello everyone.

Welcome back to Tips On Chess! (TOC for short)

The King's Pawn Opening is by far one of the most famous openings in chess. It generally leads to a quick, sharp, and intense middlegame - also known as a "Tactical Battle". There could be many, many responses to the King's Pawn Opening, more commonly King's Pawn Opening: e5. This way, Black responds with the same move, only on their side, and improving chances of a smooth and sucessful game.

Some responses to the King's Pawn Opening include:

  • Italian Game
  • Scillian Defense
  • King's Pawn Opening: e5
  • Etc.

Now, what happens when a player doesn't play the King's Pawn Opening, but something else? Find out more in the next blogs.

Thanks for reading!
