3 piece sacrifices in the accelerated dragon against Bank Szalay-Ocsak
In round 10 in the Vezerkepzo Spring International Master Tourney I played with the Hungarian Junior player Bank Szalay-Ocsak.
The most important preparation for the game was to go to sleep around 10:00 pm. I realized my biggest challenge of the tourney way the lack of sleep. I decided to make it first priority and it payed off!
I played the accelerated dragon. First I played it 30 years ago and I stopped playing because I did not like when white played c4 to build up the Maroczy Bind. A few weeks go I decided to face my shadows instead of running away and study it again and play it. I studied this Chess mood course. I suggest you to study it! It worked out well for me
He played with c4. That is the strongest way to play. White will have space advantage in the long run.
I played a little less played line, with Be5 and e6. The idea is to be able to attack the white kingside.
It worked out well, because he did not sense the danger and played Nb5 to attack my weak d6 pawn, but it allowed me to launch a strong attack with Qh4 and after g2-g3 I sacrificed my bishop to open the King.
Then I sacrificed my knight on e4 to open up the f-file for the rook.
And finally I sacrificed my rook to gain time for the attack:
