Daily Calculation Exercises - Day 71 | Pirc and Catalan Victories
In round 3 and 4 of yesterday's Titled Tuesday Tourney I played the Pirc defense and the Catalan opening and got nice attacks in both games. You can solve the 10 exercises I created from the game:
He prevented this nice finish:
How should black reach to the d4-d5 attacking move?
What is the best way to win material?
How can white gain a winning advantage?
checkmate!
How to continue the attack?
How can white win material?
How should white react?
How can we catch the king?
How should go for the initiative?
In round 3 I played the Pirc defense and I was able to win his d5 pawn and create a winning attack against his king:
in round 4 I played the Catalan opening. My opponent captured on c4 and defended it with b5. I got good counterplay on the dark squares and a space advantage. I used the activity and more space to attack his king:
I wish you enjoyed the exercises. Please use the patterns in your games!

If you would like to improve your calculation I suggest you 2 great courses:
Tactics Ninja: Something unbelievable and funny. The editor Lily, being 1,200 on chess.com, raised her online rating by 100 points in 2 weeks, just by looking through the videos of this course when she was editing them.
Mating Matador: Mastering mating patterns is the next step to get better at tactics and become a dangerous attacker. It often bridges the gap between a strong attack against the opponent's King and victory. So once you become better at sniffing checkmates, your attacking skills naturally improve.
