Road to the Grandmaster title - Backward pawn in the endgame
I started my day again with 1 hour of tactics puzzles at 8:00 am.
Today is the 53rd day when I did these exercises to improve my calculation and visualization skills to reach the grandmaster level in those areas too. I invite you to solve the exercises I worked on today in my LIVE stream on my twitch channel at https://www.twitch.tv/attilaturzo
Every day you can join me when I work on tactics.
After the puzzles I played 3 blitz games and I analyzed them after each games.
In the 1st game I played the London system and my opponent played the Bd6, Qc7 setup which is very popular and good way to meet the London system.
I got no advantage and gave him chance to press on the queenside.
I blundered a pawn, but he allowed to exchange the queens which gave my rooks activity and I won back the pawn. The endgame looked better for me, but it was equal.
My opponent was a gentleman, He could play on to flag me, but accepted my draw offer.
In the 2nd game my opponent played the Jobava London system. I gave up the bishop pair which gave him a small advantage. I should have exchange the bishops.
I equalized and he allowed me to have the better pawn structure. He got a backward pawn on e3 which gave me an advantage. I should have fix early as soon as possible with f5. I played slowly and he equalized. I missevaulated the position. I pushed too hard and lost an important pawn and later the game.
In the 3rd game my opponent played the exchange variation of the Caro-kann defense. He gave up his light squared bishop for the c6 knight and I got a big advantage. I needed to push the e-pawn quickly to e5 and e4 to keep the big advantage. I allowed him to play c4 and missed the coming b4 tempo attack on my piece which allowed him to play c4-c5 to create counterplay. The game went up and down, in the end I missed some tactics.
Last day I managed to sleep 8 hours. I was very happy about it.
I will give my best to reorganize my life to get more sleep to have energy for the games.
My blitz rating went from 2513 to 2501.
In the last 10 days I played 39 games, lost 22 games and won 13 games and drew 4 games.
You can watch the video about how I played and analyzed the games on my twitch channel at https://www.twitch.tv/attilaturzo
In the early afternoon I went to run. It was the 112th day when I was running every day. The weather was so nice, I was able to run in shorts and in a t-shirt.
