Road to the Grandmaster title - March GM round 1 - Counter-moves

In the 1st round I played against Slovakian Grandmaster Milan Pacher.

I played the London system. He replied with the e6, Bd6, Qc7 setup. In my last tournament game in that system I got a winning position, but lost in the time-trouble.

Today I decided to watch my clock and avoid time trouble.

After a few inaccuracies, I got a small attack. I calculated a piece sacrifice, but missed his counter-move and he could sacrifice his queen for 2 knights and a rook. He converted his advantage very well.

So calculation is still a weakness which I need to work on a lot to overcome.

In the next 2 games I will play the 2 other Grandmasters of the tourney. I wish I can play better tomorrow against Grandmaster Zoltán Varga.

Today's game:
