Fancy Pawn Checkmates In The Ruy Lopez
I was playing some 5|5 blitz, and decided to play the Ruy Lopez, instead of my usual Bc4. My very first game had an awesome checkmate, and I figured it was blog-worthy.
The second game I will show you is another fancy checkmate. This time, it was played by GM Petrosian, and not me.
Both checkmates were from a pawn move. To a chess player, a pawn checkmate pretty much defines fancy.
My Game
I don't know why I get the achievement "Killer Pawn." You get it for playing checkmate with a pawn for the first time, but I get it every time that I mate with a pawn. If somebody understands this, please explain in the comments. On to the GM game.
Petrosian's Game
I hope you enjoyed the games. I figured two was probably better than one. If you enjoyed, click follow in the top right.
