Road to 2000 Rapid, Expert Level: Playing for Fun! - June 2024

Hello Chess Masters! I am returning this month with some new games!
I should make an important disclaimer, saying that I have taken a long break from competitive chess and play primarily for fun nowadays. I have been auditing my priorities over the past year and have found that I cannot justify spending as much time improving my chess skills as I once did. As a result, I have shifted my attention to teaching beginner chess, preparing for work, doing university work, and devoting more time to the important people and activities in my life.
However, I still like playing chess when I can and even though I may not be playing and training anymore to reach the Expert Level at 2000 Elo, I still have some fun games to share with you! So let's look at a game or two I have played this Summer!
Goals:
  • Have fun!
  • What's a chess rating!?
  • Learn something new from each game

Game 1
Black
"Chess Played Perfect is Always a Draw??"
Comments: This game was a fun one and at 30 minutes per side, really gave me the time to think and practice calculations! I am pretty rusty right now and my play reflected that. I didn't take any big risks, just played solid and my opponent played the same! It was an interesting game that ended peacefully.
The accuracy for this game was also impressive! White played with 96.9% accuracy and I played with 96.8% accuracy! Also impressive was that white got a performance rating of 2450 and I got 2350!

Game 2
White
"The London in 2024"
Comments: As far as I can tell, I've never played a rated rapid game with the London System as white until today! I have practiced this opening in blitz and unrated rapid games to get a feel for the positions and find any opening traps I might run across, but this is my first 'official' game in the London!
