1. Practice your puzzles/Tactics
If you want to get better at chess and beat more of your opponents, you must study your puzzles and tactics! There are a lot of apps and websites where you can study puzzles. You can also study with books such as The Woodpecker Method 2. Lichess is also a good website and mobile app to play and to have puzzles with the website/app! We also have other mobile apps that have chess puzzles. Chess.com is the #1 Best Chess Website and app to use! They have more than 500,000+ Puzzles/Tactics on their Website/app! I recommend Chess.com to practice your puzzles and play games while improving your rating score! Learning puzzles will improve your strength, memorization and teach you tactics to allow you to strategize better by helping you seeing future moves; this will be useful in your games. Puzzles and tactics would give you some advantage in the game against your opponent in the game allowing you to have some sort of experience. MAKE SURE TO DO AT LEAST 10-20 PUZZLES EVERY SINGLE DAY! And try keep your score through a notebook to see how well you can do!
Let's see 4 puzzles examples here!
If you figured it out congratulations. If you didn't that's ok, because everybody has to start somewhere to get better. Now these are examples, if you keep practicing puzzles you can get better, and possibly use these tactics in your games! Make sure to keep practicing them every day and you will succeed!
2. Use openings as your advantage, plus Opening Theory
You might be wondering, "Why should I study openings?" Well, openings are a key aspect to the game. If you can get to know an opening, that can help you understand the chess game more! If you mastered an opening, you could change the game in your favor by any means necessary and take your opponent down in opening theory! Now you might say, "What's opening theory?". Opening theory is a development of moves that are theoretically best by Grandmaster and World Champions! Knowing Opening theory will give you a higher advantage against your opponents. For example, the Sicilian Defense is a great opening used by advanced and beyond players, and is great to use against an opponent who has not studied it! Openings and Opening Theory is great for beginner players to use to get a 1000+ rating! Use these tricks and tips to get an advantage against your opponent's when you play against them! Learn openings and make sure you learn at least more than one. I suggest learning 3-4 openings, 2 for white and 2 for black! You would want to learn more than 1 opening because you never know when someone can have some sort of defense against that opening that you don't know how to attack. for an example, let's say you studied the Queen's Gambit Accepted all the time and your white then someone played the Grünfeld Defense against you, and you don't understand the game behind it! This is a common example that can happen to most players and that's why most players learn more than one opening! And you should learn opening theory and use it in your openings to have an advantage over your opponent who hasn't studied the opening theory that you studied making the game give you an advantage over your opponent making you stronger in your game when you play against your opponent with your opening that you know! If you want to get a better in a chess game, it will have to be openings because that's the key aspect of the whole game! Look at opening theory for it will give your opening that you studied stronger for you to use!
Here are openings I recommend for you!
1. Study some 1.E4 Opening as an example The London System & The Italian Game. Also, D4 opening like Queen's Gambit.
2. For black I recommend The Caro Kann Defense & The Slav Defense.
3. Analize your games and do better next!
Analyzing your games is very important! The reason we analyze is to see our mistakes and how we can change those mistakes into good moves! Well, what happens if I don't have diamond membership to review my game? I do have a solution for you! You could actually take your PGN of your chess game and import it into Chess Compass and it will show you the best moves to play and what you should have done since and if you don't understand the points, you could just analyze on Chess.com and see the evaluation bar that could tell you what was best and what wasn't with using the engine Komodo or use stockfish as well! Using the engine can help you see the best moves and even give you some advantage for yourself to use and when you see a move that doesn't work then you could just discard that move when you play that opening or endgame with something. You don't sometimes need use an engine you could just see what just went wrong. It will be better for an engine to help you but if you want someone to analyze your chess games you could join my Chessablelife's Chess Club. Here at my Chess Club, I could analyze your chess games and then give it to me in class or not and I be available to give you all the details of what went wrong in your game just join it and I give you of what's important! Now Reviewing your chess games is very important to do when you have your peace and time to review it make sure to review good even when you win games still review it and when you lose! This will help you get to the next step of becoming a better player than you were! Make sure you learn something new every day!
4. Study your endgames when your close to 1000+ Rating!
Now learning your endgames will be crucial in your chess games to your 1000+ the reason why is because most of your games when you are like 800+ will might end in an endgame. Especially if your 1000+ this will give you some strength to beat your chess opponents in the endgames. Remember to know some endgame techniques like the Tow Bishops Mate. I don't know about you, but I master the Tow Bishops Mate it is tricky, but I did pull it off after a long practice time! Most of the time this won't happen to people that much but you you're a beginner master like The Queen Mate or the Rook Mate. You can even look at Chess. Com's Checkmates You Should Know Blog! Knowing all of these or even most of them can make you an Endgame Master! Study these every day and doesn't need be all of them you could just study one and after you master that then go to the next! Checkmates will be helpful for you when you get close to 1000+ Rating! If you can get this in the bag well, you will be great to grind your opponent down in some endgames! You would be a really strong player if you get this one when you go to the 1000+ rating!
5. Know your moves while the Opponents!
If you are thriving to become a 1000+ you should know your moves carefully! Don't just make your moves and not know what you're doing or just playing because you want to make the move. Instead, you should strategies what moves you're going to make because a real-life king didn't just send his troops in a field just because. It's the same thing in chess you can't just move your army out of nowhere that would be dangerous so you should know your opponent's move and yours! Make sure that every move you make has a purpose and reasoning there of course we will make mistakes but that's just the fun of chess we learn not just make moves because we don't gain from that! Instead, strategies know your tactics, plan, and pieces! If you can know how your pieces will connect with your other pieces by connecting them together you will do well. Make sure you not doing what your opponents want to do because that will favor them not you! If your opponent is trying to do some thing or like a Battery against your king, then stop that from your opponent and make his plans become awful for him and destroy his or her plans while it is favoring you for your plans! This will give you a great lesson to know your pieces and moves plus with strategy and your opponent moves and why he moved there and see your opponent plans! If you do this most of the time, I will have no doubt that you will become a 1000+ Chess player enjoy the game and keep learning something new every single day!
I hope you would get something out of this and become a better chess player! - Chessablelife
