Hey guys and welcome back to a new blog!

In this blog I'll be covering on how 2 rooks have the advantage against a queen and how you can handle them effectively so that you avoid losing in such positions!!

First of all, huge thanks to @BlitzKriegBoy99 for providing me some tips and a few examples! Please do follow him!

Let's get right to it!

Two rooks have an advantage against a single queen because they control more squares in the center than a queen! Let me show you an example:

As you can see, a single rook controls 14 squares, so if you take two rooks in the cent, they control 27 squares! Let's see how many squares can a queen cover from the center:

The queen in the center controls 27 squares, the same as two rooks, but it makes a huge difference in the endgame. Let me explain how:

In an endgame, two rooks can be stronger than a queen because they can stay connected to each other, which significantly reduces the chances of the queen capturing a rook. But in the middlegame, the other pieces on the board along with the queen can open many attacking opportunities to the opponent. Two rooks connected to each other in the endgame can provide a lot of attacking opportunities with a very slight chance of counterattacking the rooks connected to each other. @BlitzKriegBoy99 gave me the link to an awesome game, let me show it to you:

White (Peter Leko) resigned at 65.Kf6 because Black (Vladimir Kramnik) can continue play with e.g. 66 Ke4 Ke6 67 Kd4 f5 68 gxf5+ Kxf5 69 Ke3 g4 70 Kf2 Kg5 71 Kg3 Kxh5 72 Kg2 Kg5 73 Kg3 h5 and the black pawns march down to promote. There is a YouTube video on the 2019 Sinquefield Cup Tiebreak Round between Magnus Carlsen and Ding Liren which I have embedded below:

You need to watch the video from 2:34:43 which gives a good example of the usage of the two rooks in the middlegame for attacking the opponent's position.

That was all for today's blog, please do let me know in the comments if you enjoyed reading the blog!
