Hi guys ! I am back with the third chapter of "How to improve at variants" ! I got requests from players that the next variant must be fog of war , hence I made this blog.I have also seen many players struggle to win this game.If you are one of them , read this ! I will hopefully help you a lot happy.png
So , lets begin.
Fog Of War , also known as dark chess , is one of the most fun , hard and famous variants on chess.com.In this , you have to capture the enemy king ( Not checkmate ) like any other pieces to win. There are some changes in this variant from standard chess. They are :

1. You can only see squares your pieces can move to ( This makes it very exciting )
2. You cant see the pieces in front of the pawn. But , you will know that there is a piece ahead the pawn because you wont be able to see it.
3. There are no checks , checkmates or stalemate and the king can freely move even to the squares on which the enemy's pieces are attacking. But if the king moves there , the enemy can capture the king and win.

How To Improve

1. Develop
In this variant too , developing is imprtant. This is because developing pieces will help you            locate more enemy's pieces which will give you a high advantage.
2. Free your knights
Yes , the point you read is correct.FREE YOUR KNIGHTS ! Knights will help you a lot until not        tracked as they attack pieces in a different way.
3. Keep moving your knights once spotted
Yes.You must move your knights when you think they are spotted.Because the enemy will like      to capture your knights once they are spotted because they play and important role.So move      your knights once you think they are spotted.
4. Add multiple support to pawns
After moving your pawns forward , you should add some support to them which will allow          the enemy's capture to be captured again. Here's a example :

5. Make batteries
Yes.If you make batteries and move your pieces toward the king in the starting , there is a            high chance of king being blocked and having no squares to escape .Hence , you can win.
6. Use the scholars mate
If you use the scholars mate and it gets success , the king will have absolutely NO space to          move. And you can win. Here is and example :

In this too , you may have some problems like pieces coming in between. So make sure to move your pawns to check if there are any.
And thats all for today ! Meet you in the part 3 of "How to improve at variants" !
