5 Openings for an Open Position
Lots of people hate closed positions, and, sometimes they can be really annoying. One way to prevent these is openings! Here, I'm going to be showing you 5 openings for an open position.
1. Caro-Kann: Exchange Variation
This opening exchanges pawns and leads to a pretty open position.
2. French Defense: Exchange Variation
This opening also exchanges pawns and is the opening in the thumbnail. Click here if you want to learn the other lines of the French Defense.
3. Danish Gambit
My favorite gambit is the Danish Gambit. It is pretty strong and sacrifices two pawns to gain a major head-start in developing and an amazing bishop pair. It also extremely opens up the position. Click here to view my blog on gambits.
4. The Scotch Game
Though this one may not be as open as the others, it is still pretty good for an open position.
5. Scandinavian Defense: Mieses-Kotrč, Main Line
This opening is not as well-known as the others, but is still good, especially if you want an open position. Usually, bringing your queen out early is bad, but in this opening, its not that big of an issue.
I hope you enjoyed this blog!
