Powerful Knights

One of the most fanciest pieces in chess sets: the knight, notorious for its forks. The knight can be very dangerous if used correctly. In this blog, I'm going to help you use knights to their full potential.

Powerful Knights

Here is an example of a powerful knight:

It is a powerful knight because it is:
1. Attacking enemy squares.

2. Unable to be attacked by enemy pawns.

3. In the center of the board.

In The Queen's Gambit, Beth Harmon uses her powerful knight in this game to get a winning advantage.

If your opponent is threatening to trade your strong knight with a bishop or a knight, then protect your strong knight with your other knight. If you can't do this, protect with your bishop. If you can't do this, either protect it with a pawn, move it away, or trade it out.

Weak Knights

Weak knights are:

Knights that are undeveloped -

or knights that are on the side of the board -

Knights that are on the side of the board are more vulnerable to being trapped.

Test Your Knowledge

How can you place your knight in a strong spot?
