My best Daily games

Ever since chess.com launched the library feature, I've been using it to build a collection of my favorite games, adding every game where I had completely crushed my opponent. At the same time I had also begun saving games where I played a brilliant move or where I had created a monster attack that I was proud of. It turned out to be impossible and unfair to compare my favorite games for each time format, because they're so vastly different from each other. Partly because of the difference between the formats, partly because my rating for each format is different.

In this series I’m sharing my all-time best games, starting with my Daily games. I’ve played almost 500 Daily games and I’ve analyzed most of them. My score for each game is mostly dependent on the accuracy of my play and the strength of my opponent, but I’m taking other factors into account as well. Factors such as brilliant moves, an interesting opening line or a beautiful checkmate sequence.

As you can see, not much effort went into creating this thumbnail. Since I have lost access to my Canva account, I’m going for quick and simple solutions.

Anyway, here it is. My all-time best Daily games.  I hope you’ll enjoy them.

THE GAMES

01 Spectacular Steinitz Countergambit

Why this game?

With an overall accuracy of 99.3% this is my most accurate full game. I’ve only gotten higher scores on games where my opponent resigned early.

For most of the game we were still in Opening Explorer territory, so I wasn’t challenged as much as some of the other games. But the result was a beautiful game, eventful, exciting and very imbalanced. Just the way I like them.

As a cherry on top, my last move was a brilliant move because I sacrificed my Rook to force a checkmate. Unfortunately, I was not able to actually checkmate my opponent as he resigned on move 16.

02 My Strongest Opponent

Why this game?

There was little doubt about that this game rank high. In my game vs junglejoueur6, which was played almost two years ago, I won against a much stronger opponent. It’s still the highest rated player I have ever beaten.

I got a tiny bit lucky and went for it. I really had to really fight and the victory feels earned.
It’s probably the game that inspired me to build this list in the first place. I won’t go into detail because I have already shared the game in an earlier blogpost.

03 Top Quality Game

Why this game?

It's my #1 best Daily game in terms of overall accuracy, with both players performing above 93% accuracy.  It's not a very exciting game, but very high quality. And a draw against a significantly stronger player is a good result as well.

#04 A Tale of Two Bishops

Why this game?

It's a game in which I played around 97% accuracy and was able to checkmate my opponent on move 13. Not as deserved as most of the other games in the list. Quite the opposite actually. This game took a unique turn and became the second game in my Duckfest Luckfest series. You can read the full story here.

#5 Overwhelming in the Opening

Why this game?

Maybe my favorite line in my repertoire. Usually through a different move order, but it still works.

Extreme accuracy, it was only 99.8 % because I played some excellent moves instead of all best moves. Also, it was my best Daily game of ‘21, so I had to include it.

#6 Puzzle Rushing to Victory

Why this game?

It wasn’t the most challenging game, but I find it absolutely gorgeous. Because my opponent blundered a Rook for no obvious reason, I got a winning position in the early middle game.

Still, I managed to remain focused and played a very good game. The second part of the game was an almost perfect conversion. On move 19 I started a devastating attack that I’m very proud of. My Rook sacrifice on move 23 was brilliant and the final checkmate sequence was a textbook Puzzle Rush checkmate.

#7 Trapping in the Tarrasch

Why this game?

This game was part of a small tournament I played with a Tarrasch theme. My pieces were placed well and ready for an attack, while my opponent was just casually developing pieces. I was able to strike swiftly and deadly, checkmating my opponent on move 18. Overall accuracy for me was around 98%.

#8 Cheesing to my fastest finish

Why this game?

Okay, this game is only here because I was able to checkmate my opponent in less than 10 moves. Admittedly, the game was hardly challenging after my opponent blundered a full piece on the third move. But still, an accuracy of 97% is pretty great.

With a checkmate on move 9, this is my fastest ever checkmate win in a Daily game.

#9 Rook with X-ray Vision

Why this game?

One of my earlier successes in Daily. It was a solid game, with around 95% accuracy for me and around 70% for my opponent.

With a checkmate on move 15, it's one of my fastest checkmate wins. It's also one of my coolest checkmate wins, combining multiple tactical ideas.

#10 WOW, such empty

Currently, spot #10 on my list is still vacant. I haven’t decided which game deserves the honor of completing my list. Alternatively, I might leave it open for a while. It’s a work-in-progress, after all.
