A candid message
Hello everyone. I'll say it right now; this is not going to be a short post, no matter how much I or you want it to be. Let's just say that I have a message that I want to have down on some sort of permanent place.
It's International Women's Day. So I just thought I'd give a message of appreciation, hope, and an honest take on where we stand from my perspective.
I'll take it step by step. First, appreciation. I can name so many women that have made my life (and the world) a much better place. From people that have cared for me, to those that have made their voice heard, to those that have built the backbone of our incredibly successful societies, we owe practically everything to women. And while we may have our slip-ups, and we may not show as much love as we should, this day was meant to remind us of the rockstars that they are in our world, and where we would (or rather, wouldn't) be without them.
Next, hope. I hope that we can continue to make progress in raising awareness to all that women have done, together. I hope that we can start to look past our borders, out to the entire world. And I hope that we can let go of past failures and empower women to create the future. Not the future we want, but the future we need.
Last, my take on where we are. While we may not always realize it, we are living in the best time this world has ever seen. Ever since the calendar began at year 0, we have developed in multitudes. We're in the most peaceful time the world has ever seen (believe it or not). We've made gains in the quality of life and life expectancy that we should be proud of. Human Rights are slowly growing out of their luxury status that they had centuries ago. None (and I repeat, NONE) of this is possible without women. And we have a ways to go. From my perspective, we've done more than we could've imagined 100 years ago, but we need to keep going. Until every soul on this world can resoundingly say that they have all the fundemental freedoms that they deserve, we can't call ourselves done. Women have faced these challenges the most, even in the greatest nations.
So, let's appreciate all that women have done (and will do), let's strive for progress, and let's keep going!
P.S: No memes today, I don't know if I have any that fit this sort of day.
