Fair Play Update - August 2025
September is well underway, but let's take a look at the numbers from last month.
In August, we closed 123k accounts for violating the Fair Play policy. 16 of these accounts were titled players. These statistics remain consistent with the previous few months.
We've continued to work on and make improvements to our detection system as a whole, and focused on players that cheat early on in their account history. This has led to a small, yet meaningful increase in account closures for Fair Play violations.

We ramped up Proctor for its big release in early September, ensuring it was ready for Titled Tuesday and other prize events on Chess.com. With the start of the new Titled Tuesday era, ALL participants are required to use Proctor. We're excited for this new chapter, pairing our statistical approach to cheat detection with an excellent ability to monitor play in real time. We've seen strong attendance in the first couple instances of Titled Tuesday in the Proctor era and look forward to hearing feedback from the players on their Proctor experience.
That's all for now — enjoy the end of summer!
