Stuck at Home.
Most probably you have come to chess.com for one reason - to learn chess. Those who came when COVID-19 hit, well, hello.
Whether you are a child, or an adult, you are all stuck at home!
This is where chess came in. You're like, huh, "What's a hobby I could do to spend my time in quarantine?" That's where chess came in.
You're go-to answer. Now, one question, where to go? What websites are the best? For paying or not too?
That's how you found chess.com, the "perfect" place for playing chess.
Anyway, you're at home, sitting with a coffee mug and drinking it while playing blitz.
What to do? How to improve? Well, my tips below might help you. Enjoy! ![]()
Tip 1: Note: This tip is for serious players who are wanting to improve: STOP playing blitz! Instead play long games (rapid, classical) , where you have time to actually think, make out plans.
Tip 2: Read some chess books! Cmon, we can't improve without a master's advice! Maybe find some books by Jeremy Silman, and other good authors!
Tip 3: Don't play TOO fast, or TOO slow. Playing fast doesn't allow you to think and you may often make a lot of blunders. Also, if you play too slow, you may run out of time or go into time trouble.
Tip 4: Take notes, about what you've learned from videos or books. Put these into a notebook, where you can take it to tournaments and review before your games start.
Tip 5: Learn from your mistakes. When you play a game, whether you win or lose, analyze the game. Here you will find your mistakes and what you should avoid doing next game or do next game.
Tip 6: Have a growth Mindset, and have fun! No matter what the result is, just have fun. Remember, it's just a game, everyone has rough times.
Hope you enjoyed this! Hope you guys use this in your future games, and I'll see you in my next blog post ![]()
