Choose your Battlefield!

I have quite a few chess sets, boards and whatnot. Things are not all made equal, Whilst this Waterloo set is my favourite set of pieces it is not my favourite to play on and certainly not the favourite of any friends during OTB action whom are easily confuced between bishops and pawns, or as one of the kids likes to call them "The Prawns".

It also has a nice historical connection for me, I had three relatives at Waterloo and they were in the 1st Kings Dragoon Guards who charged the field and captured a French Imperial Eagle. I speak of course of the Knights on the British side.

It is a nice set, my wife and I use it regularly, she bought it for my 50th birthday. Ill post up a couple of pictures just out of interest. It would be nice to see and hear about others Chess sets, boards and paraphernalia.

The English.

The French.

I hope this has been a little distraction from the 5000000000 games you have going at the moment. My blogs meant for fun and general interest rather than lots of notation of games.

I recently got involved with a small tournament with tlaili and his group of friends, I reccomend small tournaments as these seem good fun from my new found experience with tlaili and his group. I will write up later how I get on with this tournament.
