How to play the KID.
Are you tired of my French Defense? Great! Learn the KID (King's Indian Defense)!
So, to begin with, you can play this against ANYTHING White plays.
- 1.Nf3, you play 1...Nf6.
- 1.d4, you can play 1...Nf6 or 1...g6.
- If 1.c4 you play 1...Nf6 or 1...g6.
So you may think that your first move is always Nf6 or g6. But such is not the case. Because if white plays e4, this happens.
So, if White plays 1.e4 play 1...g6 or 1...d6 before moving the knight.
Now, let's go through the rest of the development.
So, we know all about developing, and attacking the center. What else?
KINGSIDE ATTACK!!!
Here is an example.
In that example game GM Hikaru Nakamura created a strong kingside attack and demolished GM Boris Gelfand.
