End the game fast with the botez gambit: what NOT to play
Hello viewers. Do not read this blog because it is not Opposite Day. I am obviously just kidding and you should definitely click on a my blogs which support me to keep my almost 9 month old blog channel open. And also do not forget to support all my highest ranking blogs right now. if you haven't seen part 1 of the series and wish that you could or don't wish that you could, here is the random link to it. Eh... you are supposed to press on the... eh... it... And now that we have all that out of the way we can move onto the backstory if you weren't bothered to press on the link.
BACKSTORY
So a while ago @VOB96 made a forum on blogchamps about which footballer are you based on blogging and not only am I second last on the list. But I got a footballer that I think is bad. I don't know much about football, or soccer if you are American. So I started this series. To get myself up on the list and not be considered a BAD footballer. So know it is time to show you one opening that will hurt your eyes with disgustingly disgusting play. Introducing, the Botez gambit!
Before I show you, you do know the bongcloud from my previous blog right? Well, this opening is a mix of both the botez gambit and the bongcloud. So expect the dumbest of the dumb, what you are about to see is the Botez gambit: bongcloud variation
So now I wish that you do or don't play this opening. But if you can play a game against someone and get this opening, I will use your name at least once every one blog for the next 5 blogs I make. Send me the link to the game though. Note that this has to be against a real player and it can't be planned ahead of time. You just have to go for it and hope for the best. But I can't end this blog just now, because I want to get ahead on @VOB96 's list. Cry it up, you are reading more.
ORIGINS
So, of course this opening wasn't made intentionally, but as a blunder by the person playing the opening. And the botez gambit would have a different name if it wasn't started by player, Alexandra Botez. And the whole, Botez gambit isn't even a gambit as in gambits you deliberately trade or sacrifice a piece for an advantage but in the botez gambit it's kinda just throwing away your pieces. Know if you want to learn more about it, watch this.So now that you have endured 12 minutes of agony or didn't watch the video at all (I watched only 5 minutes before my attention span was more fried the McDonalds fries). But was this opening really that bad, I played 2 game against Martin, one where I play with the bongcloud and one where I play with the Botez gambit. Can I win you will find that out in...
EXPERIMENTING
So here is how the first game went
Now as you can clearly see, I somehow easily won this game, with only 59 moves to win even when I was a queen down, and if you don't think that's impressive, I am only 829 elo. But You also may be thinking, "Martin, he is a bad bot and the worst on the platform, do better". First of all, you are wrong! I made a blog on how Martin wasn't actually the worst bot. And secondly, just to see how far this terrible opening can go. I will post games of me playing bots but they are getting progressively harder until I can't beat one. Staring off with 400 rated Juan. And somehow this went down...
So I actually played a game prior to this game I played another game against Juan and won in just 34 moves but I forgot to save it so instead you get this unfortunately longer game which is just a rip-off of the original. You may notice how all of these games take a while for the queen to actually be sacrificed and thats because it's like the computers are always playing the opposite of what I actually want. Of course though, I still played better in that game than when I played against Martin (wait, do I have to update my worst bots blog?). Out of those 51 moves, it only took me about 14 moves to take his queen and a few more moves to take all his rooks to really secure a lead against Juan. Easy bot, well, this next one won't be as easy...
Well, remember I said that this game wouldn't be easy? Well, it was easier as I won in record time of less than 45 moves. Pretty insane play regarding that I sacrificed my queen at the very start of the game just so I couldn't build up tactics. I also made such a beautiful move taking the queen, checking the king at the same time which allowed me to take his rook with an evil grin on my face. I just don't understand, am I getting better or are all of these bots getting worse. I really desperately wanted to play Oliver from Ireland on the bots (remind you of anyone🤫) but of course I am only playing the bots from the first part of their rating. Now, the next bot I will play will have a higher rating then me, what will I expect, loss, or win in less than forty. Number 2 probably won't happen but lets just see how this game turns out...
turns out I was wrong in two ways, I didn't get less in forty and it wasn't higher elo than me, its the next bot that I am playing that has higher elo than me, one thing did go right for me. I did win in one move shorter time which is still shorter time than in previous games. I wasn't expecting such horrible play from 700 elo. This is really feeling easier as I progress through all these bots, I might even make it to the intermediate section of the bots, and also maybe beat 43 moves. Which I do know is highly unlikely considering I only beat my previous by 1 move but still, If you don't stop believing in hope, hope will stop believing in you. Onto the next game where I fight an opponent literally worth my power...
I honestly don't think chess.com is correct with their bots anymore, tell me, how did it take 59 moves to beat Martin, a bot with 250 elo but it only took me 35 moves to beat Zara, an 850 elo bot. The fact that I shattered my previous record by 8 moves is really crazy. Also, I have an announcement with this bots thing. I will only be doing the next 2 bots which are the first two of intermediate (if I even beat them) and because this sadly took so long for me to lose. I have to cancel the comparing to bongcloud. The next game I will find surely impossible to win, or maybe the record is broken into an even worse state. But I am really joking now, there is no way that I am beating 35 moves against a bot with 300 more elo than me. But lets see...
So, I am not showing the game since this is where the streak ends and I lost with the bongcloud, even after continuous attempts, I just wasn't able to get past the bot. Of course now you know that against people around or lower than your rating, sometimes it can be possible to make a comeback from bad openings and blunders. Which brings us to the final stretch of the blog, the real last but not least type of content.
CONCLUSION
The conclusion is where everything ends, fertig, nothing more, nada. But then we do have to go over a few more things before we part in this blog, number 1. Those 5 mentions are still up for grabs if you think you can play the botez gambit: bongcloud variation against someone. And also, the next time someone tells you that you're playing the worst opening ever while you are playing the opening you love, say that they're wrong and show them this exact blog. Well, I guess that's it, the very end of the blog. But before I go, read this other blog that is on the road to 900 views, maybe even 1 thousand!
