I remember that my greatest chess improvement generally happened when I had a support team behind me.
Such as in 2004, when I was not just having lessons each week with my main chess coach, but also playing training games, getting emotional support and psychological training from my mother (who was a highly successful sports coach in her past), reading a lot of great chess books that were relevant for my situation, and practicing regularly with the chess computer.
Or in 2006, when I qualified for the NSW State Championship, and was lower rated than everyone else by at least 100 points.
So, I took my preparation to a new level - and played training games each week with a higher-rated player before each game.
The thing is, I paid around $40-80 per hour for these training games...
I get that it's 𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦 and build a winning team for yourself.
