What is the most spectacular king march ever played in a Chess Olympiad?
Many of you are probably already familiar with the concept of the incredible king march in a middlegame full of pieces. It is very rare for this to be successful in practice, but those who manage this against a Grandmaster become immortalized in chess history. The most famous example is Nigel Short, who played Kh2-g3-f4-g5 consecutively to defeat Jan Timman:
As I was looking for more incredible games to share with you, I immediately thought of a creative Swedish Grandmaster who inspired my opening choices as a junior - GM Tiger Hillarp Persson.
I could show you many of his incredible games, but in today's post, I will focus on his amazing king march against the strong Lithuanian IM Tomas Laurusas at the 2018 Batumi Olympiad.
