Mission: Impossible- The Final Reckoning Movie Review
It's hard to think about how the first M:I film went down after seeing all these newer ones. I mean, for real... we went from this:
...to this:
...and that's completely ignoring the fact that Tom Cruise is 62 now.
This was a wild ride; it was very intense, very exciting, very stressful, and, yes, the M:I signature: very confusing. This film marked the end of an 8-part long era not just for fans, but the entirety of the cinema world... so they just had to make it 3 hours long. 🤣🤣🤣

I'm just gonna say it, I was pretty disappointed by this one.
I went into it thinking it would be just like Dead Reckoning ( Which I absolutely adored ) based on the fact that this was supposed to be a part one and two situation; unfortunately, this one just wasn't as upbeat and as colorful as DR that that really ended up bringing it all down for me. Like I said though in my last "2025: Review So Far" blog, ( CLICK HERE ) of course this movie wasn't ALL bad; I thought overall, it was pretty good despite some things and now that I know what to expect, I'm willing to bet that I'm gonna LOVE this movie whenever I re-watch it on Paramount+.
...but you know what time it is now, all my notes are below. 💩
- Why wasn't Alanna/the White Widow in this one? I mean, I guess she wasn't really needed this time around since she was really only there in DR because of the key, but still; I wish we had gotten a clearer ending for her in this one; even if it was just for like 2 seconds I would have been happy 🤷 ( But also, I guess Vanessa Kirby was pretty busy filming F4 at this time; idk tho 💩 )
- Where was Brandt in this one? I really liked his character in Ghost Protocol and Rogue Nation; it's a shame what happened to him, but, uhhhh... does this mean no more Ethan Hunt takeover??? 🤣
- Last one of these, I promise:
Where was Ilsa in the one? OH WAIT, SHE'S- - Sorta talked about this already, but there was not a lot of color in this one and overall the vibe was just very different from all the other Missions; I really don't know why they did that 🫤
- The Mission: Impossible franchise is very well known for showing fans around beautiful cities and historic landmarks; although in this one, almost no exotic locations like that were visited, and they just really leave you hanging by the end of it all
- There weren't like any masks pulls in this one; maybe like... 2? 🤣🤣🤣 ( I mean, I'm kinda glad they dropped that bc I've always thought of that bit just being such lazy writing, but at the same time, this IS supposed like... the final chapter and stuf, sooooooooo... )
- The vault actor was not very good in this one ( Kinda like how Ralph Macchio was perfect in the original Karate Kid movies and then in Cobra Kai he like... could not act 🤣 ) Why did my bro keep that knife tho 💀 ( Better question: why did he have it on him in that very moment 🤣🤣🤣 )
- Benji has always been my favorite; SO glad he didn't kick the 🪣 ( Luther was probably the most obvious one to die, but I thought all of 'em would so I can't really be talking 💩😆 )
- Yet again, I said this in my last "2025: Review So Far" blog, but the entire climax of this one was just absolutely perfect, no more comments
- PluggedIn lied about all the language; I thought I heard at least 2 F-bomb's; Bob Hoose said there were none 🤣🤣🤣 ( Also, there was no "Strong Language" tag in the rating; but ig "Breif Language" might be the same??? COMMENT BELOW! )
- This movie brought back the ( Like I called it earlier ) "M:I signature": it was a lot more confusing than some of the other newer Missions 🤷 ( From Ghost Protocol-DR, none of those were very confusing imo; just this one was 😆 )
- Leading up to this movie, I tried to re-watch all the other Missions to get ready; I watched 1 in its entirety, part of 2, not 3 at all 💩, 4 and 5 in its entirety, not 6, ( bc I felt like I had seen that one a lot more than the others for some reason ) and, of course, 7 in it's entirety; while doing this, I realized one thing...
"What's the play?" 🤣🤣🤣 - I'm glad Paris didn't talk in English almost at all in this one cuz then I would have been thinking "Mantis" the whole time 💩😆
- Jasper Briggs is Jim Phelps's son?!? Jim never talked about having a son in the og; plus, he's like... 90 in the first movie 💩🤣

...and there you have it! 💩🤣 - Before going inside the theater to watch the movie, my Dad put on a quick recap video of all the M:I films before this one, and I learned for the very first time that the arms dealer from the first M:I movie, Max, is related to Alanna/the White Widow 🤯🤯🤯 ( Why did I never catch that before, bruv 🙏😭 )
- I was actually FURIOUS that this movie had so much to do with M:I-3, one of the only Missions I skipped while rewatching the franchise; that's seriously just another reason why this movie didn't fly too well with me; I absolutely despise that third movie 🤣 ( This whole situation is just like how Eternals, one of the worst movies of the MCU, or so I've heard bc I SKIPPED IT had so much to do with Brave New World 🤦 Life's so hard, bro )
- This guy's concept opening titles were like 400x better than the actual ones lol 👇🤣 ( So fire... )
- Yo Sony literally stole this movie's slogan for their own, it's actually crazy 👇😆 ( The title 🤦🤣 )
- This is seriously scary comparing Tom Cruise's age to Hayley Atwell's 🤣🤣🤣
But, uhhh... age is just a number, right?

The "Final Reckoning" could have been better, but it's fine; I'm looking forward to a re-watch. ( With hopefully a different result??? 🤔🤨🧐🤣 ) Whatever. 💩😆
