The DC Universe Is Already Ruined

Here we go again...

The trailer for the upcoming DC series, Lanterns, just dropped today (Apparently it was supposed to drop tomorrow but I think they changed it bc of a leak 🙏😭🤣) and IT. LOOKS. AWESOME.

...but guess what? LITERALLY guess what I'm going to say next... YUP, I'M 99.999999999% SURE IT'S TV-MA FOR LANGUAGE. 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡 (I know this because there were 3 f-bombs in the stupid teaser 💀)

I'm actually getting SICK AND TIRED of great-looking movies and shows being ruined with a bad age rating being slapped on them. Deadpool & Wolverine, Roofman, probably Supergirl... this is just getting out of hand.

What audience is James Gunn going for? This question was kind of the basis of one of my last DC blogs (CLICK HERE) but as I was saying... he obviously made Superman PG-13 for a reason, but literally EVERY SINGLE THING in the DCU before, most of what's coming after, and since Superman has been either (Or is rumored to be) R/TV-MA; I'm serious.

I'm incredibly mad that this new universe seems more mature, yes, but I'm also mad that James Gunn would start the whole DCU with Superman, a PG-13 movie reigning in kid fans, just so he can continue the franchise in an R-rated way. It's not fair and it just doesn't make sense to me. Why get certain fans hooked if you're just gonna lose them the next second on purpose?

When talking about Lanterns, HBO is not the most family-friendly service, I know, but that shouldn't be an excuse to fill this entire new universe with over the top violence, language, and suggestible things. (But hey, for the people that feel the way I feel, which is probably not a lot of people, we should look forward to Paramount buying Warner Bros; maybe they will do well in this category???)

What I'm trying to say is this: why should I get my hopes up about the future of the DCU like Supergirl and Lanterns if all that it's gonna be is mature garbage? I was hooked with Superman, but I've got a feeling we're not gonna get another DC movie like that ever again: actually family-friendly.

It makes no sense, I know, but I'm no James Gunn. 💩
