The X-Men Flaw: Forgotten Characters

Welcome to my brand new blog series: The X-Men Flaw. In this series, I will be digging deeper into some X-Men flaws I’ve noticed while watching the movies.

The first X-Men flaw I’ve noticed is how a lot of the characters are forgotten. Some big, and some small. Enjoy!

Rouge. Ghost. Nightcrawler. The Multiplying Man. Warren Worthington. Banshee. Bolt. Psylocke. All these mutants and more were either forgotten, lost, or just disappeared. In today's blog, I will be looking closer at these characters and how they were forgotten. Let's go!

ROGUE

Rogue was literally the main character in the first X-Men movie. Come on, guys. The first 2 films focused on her a lot. She kicked the entire franchise off with her power in X-Men 1, then in X2, she was seen on the team throughout the film. That's when we get to The Last Stand. In The Last Stand, she only gets 5 minutes of screen time, overall. And the time she is on screen, it's just angering what happens. ( Getting the cure, Bobby leaving her, etc. )

If you thought that was the last time we saw her, you're wrong. In Days Of Future Past, she gets  5 seconds of screen time... that's just messed up. You can't have a main character just disappear not even halfway through a film franchise... it's just... not RIGHT.

Rogue deserves more.

STORM

Now, I know what you're thinking: "But @Jehtt, Storm was in all the X-Men movies for reasonable amounts of time!" WRONG. Storm was a very minor character in Days Of Future Past. She had a total of 1 minute and 30 seconds of screen time with not much development to her character. It was just very disappointing to see after watching the original movies.

NIGHTCRAWLER

Kurt Wagner was one of the main characters in X2 and then was literally never seen again in the original trilogy. This one I was actually so curious about I looked it up on Google and it said that the actor, Alan Cumming, refused to return to the role because of how much work the makeup took... I bet he regretted THAT.

Nightclawler was actually pretty cool in X2, I ain't gonna lie. It was sad not to see him again.

THE MULTIPLYING MAN

Jamie Madrox was recruited by Magneto in The Last Stand and was sent to distract the X-Men during the final battle scene but he was never seen again... was he killed? Was he kidnapped? Did he escape? WHAT HAPPENED TO THE MULTIPLYING MAN?!

ANGEL ( WARREN WORTHINGTON )

This was the one I probably had the most confusion on. At the end of The Last Stand, Warren just sorta despawned along with his dad. I talked a bit about this in a previous BLOG where I ranked every X-Men movie but I want to go in more depth. Warren and his dad were pretty big characters in the film with his father creating the cure and everything but what I really wanted to talk about was Angel in Apocalypse.

If you read my last BLOG, I talked about the First Class series and how it was never supposed to be a prequel, but a reboot. And in one of those "reboot" movies, Angel apperars. And guess what happens? He's tortured, almost killed many times, and then blows up in a plane crash........ oh, and he's a villain........................ yeah.

Angel was a very quiet character but he was also a very important character. Him just flying away was very unsatisfying.

BANSHEE

Bro literally had an off screen death... what was the point in that?

BOLT

I know Stryker said Bolt was dead along with all the other mutants Victor went to go get but we never saw him again. Was he also being experimented on? Is he really dead?

Very odd ending for him... comment below what you think!

PSYLOCKE

Apocalypse found Psylocke and took her as one of his henchmen but she sorta just walked away at the end of the battle and wasn't even in Dark Phoenix at all... where the heck did she go? Where is she now?

There are many more characters that were forgotten throughout the X-Men franchise but these were the main ones I found. 😁 Comment below any others you found! ( You might get a shout-out at the end of the blog! 😉 )

Thanks for reading! Hope you enjoyed!

Jetplane Movies has been such an amazing journey for me. To look back over the years and see my style of writing change has been so fun and it's been such a blessing having all of y'all by my side. Whether this is your first time reading, or you've been a fan since the beginning. I thank you; from the bottom of my heart. This has been a very exciting part of my writing career and I'm so happy with how it's turned out. It's definitely had its ups and downs, (*Cough Cough* The @Jehtt Tribute) but I'm so excited to now be able to share these blogs with the Chess.com community... even though they are ALL about movies. Enjoy!
