How to Make a Good Blog

If you enjoy (or hate) this blog make sure to leave a comment down below. Have a nice day.

We are going full meta with this one. A person who sucks at writing (and everything in general) is going to teach you how to write a good blog! Obviously my advice is not to be taken too seriously as I don't know how to make a good blog myself, but hopefully by advice will work for someone and that person goes on to be actually good at making blogs! Without further ado, lets get started!

Step One: Choose a Good Topic

If you want to make a blog, you have to have a good topic! The topic should be something you want to write about, be something you can write about easily without running into too many roadblocks, and you have to make it appropriate for your target audience. If you want anyone to be able to read it maybe leave the swears at the door and don't go TOO far with your weird humor. Another thing you should do is make sure your followers will want to read it, this only really applies if you have followers that expect a certain thing from you though as if you don't have many followers you can throw more things against the wall to see what sticks. (Like me!)

Step Two: Do Your Research About the Topic

This is the boring part. Research is important as you have to know what you are talking about at least to some degree to be able to talk about what you want. Depending on the topic you are blogging about you may have more or less experience in that field meaning you may need to scale the amount of research you do with what you know. Copying off others is another no-go though as that would be plagiarism so you have to at least add SOMETHING of substance. Research may be boring but if you want to seriously blog you probably put at least some effort in.

Step Three: Write your Blog in the Way you Talk

Finally something I'm good at! Also in case you are wondering I do talk like an over-the-top teenager in real life too. If you just have it lined out in a boring pattern then no one will be interested in what you have to say even if your information is good. Make sure to put in your own type of "humor" in the writing and add your own artistic flair (My humor is making fun of my bad writing for example). If you do this you will be more likely to gain a loyal fanbase as more people will be likely to not just like your writing, but like your personality too.

Step Four: Have a Strong Opening

The opening is arguably the most important part of everything if you think about it. Would you really want to watch a TV show if the first episode is awful? Even if the rest of the show is great the opening will likely leave a bad taste in most people's mouths. This is why it is important to start out strong by instantly showing the type of humor and personality you have, explaining what the blog is about, and having a title which will get them interested. If you can do this, consider half the job done. Just remember to put effort in the rest of your work too!

Step Five: Use Images for Visual Representation

Images are useful to add for a multitude of reasons. These include:

  • Can make the blogs more appealing to look at and get the message across better
  • Images are easier to visualize then words so people will be more likely to remember them
  • Makes your blog look higher quality meaning people will be more likely to read
  • Keeps the reader engaged longer and shakes it up
  • Just fun to do

Don't add to many images however as this can make your blog look like an eyesore!

Step Six: Have a Good Call to Action

If you are going to make an article or blog you probably want to gain something from it. This is where call to actions come in! If you are writing a blog talking about how cool a certain game is a good call to action would be to ask the viewer to get the game for themselves. If you are writing your article or blog just trying to get as many views and fans as possible then you should link your other articles. (Like this!) If you don't want to have a call to action it's not a necessity but it can help you if you want to accomplish something with your articles.

Step Seven: Just do Your Best

If you want to make a blog you should just try your best! Put in as much effort as you can and you may be able to make something great! Don't expect to succeed on your first try and don't give up and maybe one day you can become a professional blogger. Good luck!
