This BRILLIANT move STUNNED my opponent!
Hello my friends and welcome to my Blog Learn With Fun, Learn With Kyu!
Today I will be sharing with you a Daily Chess Game I have played on the site! Yeah, this may look completely useless but please, don't stop reading here! What's coming next will be the most satisfying chess tactic of all time my friends, alright, believe me my friends!
Chess is mostly Tactics. TACTICS. And more T-A-C-T-I-C-S! Learn the tactics and you can beat everyone, especially at bullet chess! My friend [@nicholson97] told me a few days ago, when I asked him how to improve at bullet chess, I should focus on deep tactical unknown lines that only I can do and that will surprise my opponent. He's right. He IS COMPLETELY RIGHT. And that's in my opinion not only true for bullet chess, but for any time control you can pick (excepted the hyperbullet where you just gotta click the fastest you can haha)
Playing Daily Chess: A (not so) good decision
Is Daily Chess really good for improving? Not for me my friends.... Daily Chess, also known as correspondence chess, may look good for getting better at chess at first impression, but I believe it's just a waste of time, if you want to really get better at chess. Crazy, right? You may think that having THREE days or FIVE days or ONE WEEK or even TWO WEEKS is excellent for your skills and your moves will win in accuracy. You're right my friends. But as soon you will get back to live chess, you will see issues with time control and chess vision.
If you play ONLY Daily Chess, you will get better in positional skills for sure, but also you will get slower at playing! And that's not good. Remember we are not Super Grandmasters. We want to improve at our own speed, that corresponds best to us. To do that, we will try getting better intuition at chess. To get that intuition, it is important to get bullied by our opponents, to get destroyed, to get mated because of blunders! You will have to build a solid basis, on which you can then apply more chess tactics, strategies and all this stuff that will make you a great player!
Combine all time controls: bullet, blitz, rapid, daily, with increment, without increment. This is the KEY to improve at best! Don't do only Daily Chess, but do also not do only Bullet Chess my friends! Try to find your own mix of all these speeds and keep on it! You don't need to play in the same day all these time controls, you can play one day more bullet, the other day more daily, and the next day blitz again, that's a cool idea, that's what I personally did to get to 2000.
These days, I am playing more Daily Chess again (to be honest, I was annoyed by this 1500 standing in my profile next to the big 2300s....) and I believe it helped me gain new ideas and more positional skills for the middlegame. So please do not understand me wrong: I didn't say Daily Chess is "bad"- it is one of many brick stones you can add to your wall of improvement.
The BIG MOVE: first your chance to find it!
Before any further explanations, I wish you to look at that position and tell me your thoughts about it and what you would play in the comments (before continuing reading)

The plan & my strategy
What I see in this position is that my opponent had ZERO PIECE protecting his king after the queen move. This queen move is literally the one key that allowed me starting my attack, as it was the main piece on the board causing me troubles. My first thought, as a bullet and blitz player, was of course to go all in with Bh6 and I decided to analyze that line before playing it, as I had a full day to focus on it (I didn't take the full day for it haha don't worry my friends).
So I first analyzed what would happen if my opponent simply accepted the sacrifice: Qg4+ looks like the most natural move (tastyyy) so I first tried with this usual check.
We have two lines after Qg4+:
- King to h8, with Nxf7 MATE
- Or King to f8. In this case, we do indeed have the knight check Nd7+ where the king is completely stuck, which means Black's only move is Qxd7 and we come grab that free queen, thank you!
That means, Black can definitely NOT accept the sacrifice and take the bishop.
If they don't take, the thread is Qxf7+, Qxg7#- what can they do to stop us from Mating?
The engine says Black must play pawn to f5! What a fabulous move! (I myself wouldn't have come on it....). The possibilities that came in mind for me (and probably for my opponent too) were Rf8, f6, Qe8 to either protect the f pawn or by blocking the queen from attacking the f7 square.
If any other move than f6/f5 is played, it looks devastating and White gets a terribly dangerous advantage by playing moves like Qg3! threatening Mate in ONE on g7 and later on, after g6, Qe5! again Mate in ONE here! Tell me in the comments, if you wish me to do a deeper analysis on these aggressive lines in my next blog!
Let's focus on f6, the move that my opponent played! Decisive blunder leading to my complete control of the board! All pieces of the puzzle are getting glued together now to place the final attack, the big boss!, on Black's King and Castle! Look at this beauty!
Opponent resigned after Nc6, discovered check by the rookie! Terrible! That's probably been one of my favorite moves I've played to be honest, that counter intuitive Bishop Sacrifice!
Conclusion my friends
One word: T-A-C-T-I-C-S. Yes my friends, go for it! Look for them! Improve your chess with puzzles and a various quantity of time controls to get new sharp eyes and play such devastating moves! Make sure to check every corner of the board and find the best line!
Feel free to use these bullet points I gave you when showing you the start position, these may be useful in the future to not miss any single brilliant my friends! Believe me, this worked for me, it will also work for you!
